Dear Friends of Bandy!

On behalf of Finnish Bandy Federation I welcome all the friends of bandy to the 3rd bandy Super Cup! Local organization committee has created wonderful occasion to the top class bandy event.

In the Super Cup we will see top matches of the three top national teams just about two months before WCS2010. I must be said that Super Cup has taken its own place in the international tournament calendar of the FIB. In the Super Cup, the first beat of the WCS will be taken.

It will be interesting to see what kind of bandy these top national teams will play in this phase of the season. In addition I like to say that the junior players of Lappeenranta and Southern Karelia are privileged when they can accompany the best bandy players in their home field. Names like Obuhov, Hellmyrs, Lomanov, Laakkonen, Aaltonen, Mossberg, Sveshnikov, Edlund will definitely awe among all the bandy fans.

Super Cup 2009 will celebrate the Finnish sports history: it has been 90 years since the independent state of Finland played its first official national team match including all the sports. At that time, 1919, the opponent was our dearest neighbor, Sweden, and the sport was bandy, too! In other words, we are making sports history in Lappeenranta.

I wish nice bandy weekend for all the players and leaders, referees and all the quests and audience here in Lappeeranta, the Bandy Capital of Finland!
