Meet the President

Mr. Boris Srinnik, the president of FIB, watches satisfied the matches of Russian club teams in the new Göranson Arena in Sandviken. The year 2009 is the first time when Bandy World Cup takes place elsewhere than in Ljusdal where it has played last 35 years.

After the World Cup, the next top event of men’s bandy is the Super Cup. National teams of Finland, Sweden and Russia will meet in Finland, Lappeenranta 4th–6th of December, 2009.

1. In what way the international bandy is developing in this moment?
It develops to the right direction and bandy’s position is better all the time. The FIB gets new member states and the circumstances are getting better. Direction is good.

2. What is the significance of the Super Cup?
Super Cup is an important tournament for national teams of Russia, Sweden and Finland. In addition, Finland needs international level bandy event. Super Cup has its own place in the calendar of FIB.

3. What you can say about the arrangements of the Super Cup?
I have been visiting in the Super Cup often and everything has been organized very well. All the arrangements have been fine for the audience and for the teams.

4. Is there anything to improve in the Super Cup?
There are the three top teams of the bandy world in the Super Cup, and I am sure that all the matches will be entertaining and high level events. Even thought the preparations of the Super Cup are always fine, the Bandy Arena of Lappeenranta needs some development. Dressing rooms and audience stand are poor. The most important thing is that there should be indoor arena for bandy in Lappeenranta!

5. What is the status of Bandy in Russia?
The level and status of Russian Bandy is good. It develops to the right direction. We have new tournaments for women and junior players. The latest action is that we have created bandy tournament for disabled people. Actually, it is part of the future aims of the FIB, because bandy should be played in the Paralympics, too.
